With all the new and exciting coffees that are emerging from producers all around the world, we’re chartering into new territories with how complex and unique some of the flavors we’re tasting are. Its such a good segway into new combinations, being bold and trying what seems to be a little bit silly.
Its important to note that when we read the tasting notes on a bag of coffee, that we need to understand that those flavors aren’t necessarily what we are going to be tasting, but rather an interpretation of their acidity, bitterness, body and aroma. That doesn’t mean that we cant take those flavors and work with them as we would any other flavor combination.
It can be as easy as taking the most dominant flavor profile of a coffee and matching it with its real life counterpart. For example, our Kingpin espresso has wonderful notes of blueberry to finish off the palate (our interpretation of its sweet and fruity acidity that lingers on the tongue). I took that tasting note and crafted up a simple blueberry and lemon syrup that will take any espresso tonic to the next level! If you don’t believe me, you’re welcome to come in and try for yourself. And if that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea (or coffee in this case) then we are always striving to push the boundaries and create something new for you all to try, whether it be something fruity and refreshing or something warm and cozy.
I hope that this can inspire you to be more creative with how you make coffee at work or at home, and don’t be worried to try something that may seem ridiculous because that is often where genius arises!
