Discover Yirgacheffe: A Floral, Fruity Gem from Ethiopia

Hi coffee lovers,
If you’re curious about the origins of some of the most aromatic coffees we serve, you’re in for a treat this week. We’re diving into one of our all-time favorites: Ethiopian Yirgacheffe.

Grown at High Altitudes with Love
Yirgacheffe is a small region nestled within Ethiopia’s Sidamo area, widely known as one of the birthplaces of coffee. Grown at elevations between 1,800 to 2,100 meters, the beans mature slowly, developing complex and delicate flavor profiles thanks to
the ideal climate, rich soil, and high altitude.

Notes of Flowers, Fruit, and Tea
What makes Yirgacheffe so beloved is its bright floral aroma and vibrant acidity. You might pick up notes of jasmine, lavender, peach, or berries—sometimes even a hint of black tea. These flavors shine particularly well in washed (wet-processed) Yirgacheffe beans, known for their clarity and brightness.

Perfect for Filter Brewing—and More
Whether you prefer a pour-over, AeroPress, or cold brew, Yirgacheffe adapts beautifully. It’s especially great for filter brewing, where its floral and fruity nuances really stand out. But don’t hesitate to try it as an espresso for a clean, lively cup with a unique character.

Why We Love It
At our roastery, we carefully select in-season Yirgacheffe lots to ensure peak freshness and flavor. Each harvest brings something slightly different, which makes every cup a new experience. It’s one of those coffees you can enjoy again and again, always discovering something new.

If you’d like to experience Yirgacheffe’s unique profile for yourself, come visit us at Q.lab for a tasting. We’d love to share a cup and talk all things coffee with you.

See you soon at the bar!
