One of the greatest things about specialty coffee shops these days is the diversity in the coffees that are available to try. From light roasted washed coffees with notes of peach and berries, to dark roasted natural coffees with notes of dark chocolate and scorched almonds, we as consumers are spoilt for choice in the third wave movement of coffee.
Having the ability to taste coffees from different regions with different roast profiles has opened up the possibility to everyone having their coffee exactly the way they want it, whether you prefer the delicate floral and tea notes of a light roast or if you prefer the bold deep body of a dark roast. You can even split the difference and have a medium roast with beautiful notes of milk chocolate and caramel.
One thing that can hinder a persons quest to find their coffee the way they want it is being limited to only having one coffee at a time, after all its much easier to compare coffees when you can taste them back to back. That’s where we come in to play with our sensory experience menu that gives you the chance to try our coffees in a way that gives you the chance to compare, contemplate, and really dive into what makes coffees different.
Ever wanted to try a coffee black and with milk at the same time? Try the espresso split (or as we call it back in NZ, a biggie smalls). One espresso split into 2 so you can try straight black and also as a cappuccino, it’s a great way to see how adding milk can change the coffee and enhance those flavors that make it special while also being able to taste it in the pure condensed form of espresso. Pro tip: Use a small amount of water in the espresso to open up the flavors and really taste what makes it so special!
The barista breakfast is a classic for any barista that dials in the coffees in the morning, want to play pretend? Take the split from above and throw in a cup of filter coffee to hit it from all angles, who doesn’t want to have three coffees in one sitting?
Big fan of espresso? We have you covered! With 5 different espresso options daily, you can select three of them for an espresso flight! From the bright and fruity light roast through to the bold and chocolatey darker roasts, we’re sure to have something in there that ticks your box and will set you up with your new favorite daily brew.
Then we needed to cater for the pour over enthusiasts who are always on the lookout for the next best thing, it should be obvious where I’m going with this. Pour over flights! Your choice of three of our coffees to taste, brewed on the classic Chemex! Travel the world through your taste buds, compare natural coffees to washed coffees, different roast degrees, this is easily the most exciting choice in my opinion. Beware though, this one will leave you buzzing! Given that caffeine is extracted over time, this flight has more than enough to get you through your day. I highly recommend sharing this one with unless you’re game enough to drink it all yourself!
Then, of course, we have the pièce de resistance, the Gold Label flight! Similar to the pour over flight, this experience brings you the cream of the crop with two brews of our Gold Label coffees! Rare and exotic coffees that really show us what’s possible in the world of coffee, taking those floral fruity flavors to the next level. If you know what’s up, you’ll already be aware of how amazingly complex and delicious Gesha coffees are, and ours are just that!
So if you’re new to coffee or a real seasoned pro, we have something for you here at Qlab. Come on down and try what we have to offer, chat to us about the coffee and come get your own sensory experience!
